G.W. Riley and unknown person

Description :
Im looking for G.W. Riley on the right of photo other person is unknown. Was in the Navy WW2 Birth Cert. has G.W. Riley but may have joined the Navy under George Washington, Red, or Johnny which is the name he went by. Navy tried to help but cant find records I also cant get his SS# . G.W. was my husbands father and died when my husband was 3yrs. I got the death cert. but no help on it.
