S.G.Black was born in Campbell County, KY in 1838 and died November 6, 1897 in Pendleton County, KY.
He was the son of Elmore Black and Rosannah Abercrombie.
Sam was married to Ellenora Casey, dau. of William Casey in 1863 in Kenton County, KY.
Their children were:

Cassius Elmore Black, 1882-1936
Samuel G. Black served in the Kentucky Grays militia in 1862. He enlisted in the 53rd KY.Mounted Infantry in 1864 for a one year enlistment. He fought at the Battles of Saltville and Marion, Virginia and various skirmishes in Kentucky. He was discharged in September 1865.
