Description :
Round Rock Cemetery is located on Sam Bass Road. Among those buried here are Sam Bass and his fellow gangmember, Seaborn Barnes, on the far left side of the cemetery, and Williamson County Texas Deputy Sheriff Alijah W. Grimes, on the right side of the cemetery. Grimes and Barnes were both shot dead in the gun battle that took place July 19, 1878, when Grimes asked Bass, Barnes, and Frank Murphy to hand over their concealed guns, in Koppel's General Store. Sam died two days later on his 27th birthday, from the wounds he received in that gun battle. Frank Murphy escaped and was never apprehended.
