Description :
This photo was taken in about 1932 of Mathilda Howse-Sanderson with her daughter Bertha. It was taken at William Sanderson & Mathilda's homestead in Manitoba. Mathilda was the sister to Robert Alexander Howse and a great great grand-daughter to the Fur Trader Joseph Howse, who came from Cirencester, England in the late 1700's with the Hudson's Bay Company.

Comments about this photo:
I have a HOUSE line that was in Georgia in early to mid 1800s. Leiston (Liston), Lot, Dennis HOUSE are people I think were related to the 1st husband of my great great grandmother Parthenia ANDREWS born about 1834 in Wilkes, Lincoln twp GA. She and George N. (or M) HOUSE married 1851 and then 1855-56 migrated to eastern Arkansas (St. Francis / Monroe Counties) with her family. Allied families were PULLEN / PULLIN, HOUSE, ANDREWS, RICHARDSON, with these familes coming from the Carolinas to Georgia either in the late 1700s. I have long thought that George N. HOUSE born about 1831 in GA came from a line that was in Canada with spelling of the surname possibly HAUSE or HOWSE. The other lines were generally English or Scottish, so I do not think the HOUSE line tracked to Germany, but rather to the British Isles. ---Audrey in Tennessee
