Ninety years old – Mrs. Henry Eccleston will be ninety years old on Monday and in celebration of the event will be at home to her friends at her residence, 535 Jessamine Street, between the hours of 3 and 5 Monday afternoon and 7 and 10 o’clock that evening.
A native of Birmingham, Eng. Mrs. Eccleston, the former Miss Sarah Mansell (I have her last name as being Mansfield), was married in Birmingham at the age of 18. She and Mr. Eccleston left England soon afterward, setting in Kankakee, Ill. And later moving to Waterloo, Iowa, where they resided for 47 years. In 1915 they came to Florida, spending two? Years in Lake Worth before moving to West Palm Beach. Mr. Eccleston, who died 11 years ago? Was West Palm Beach’s plumbing inspector.
Mrs. Eccleston is the oldest living? Member of the First Methodist Church in the city and is interested in the work of the Women Missionary Society and the Women’s Wesley Bible Class to which she belongs. She is skilled in the use of the needle and her home is filled with examples of her hand work. She still oversees the management of her household and until a year ago did much of the work herself.
Receiving with Mrs. Eccleston tomorrow will be her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Eccleston of Highland Drive, her sister Mrs. Gertrude Strong, who makes her home with her, her sister-in-law, Miss Charlotte Eccleston of 436 Evernia Street, and Mrs. C.H. Eccleston’s mother Mrs. Fannie Denson. Mrs. Eccleston has a daughter, Mrs. Florence Bray, who lives in Denver. Another? Daughter, Miss Alice Eccleston who made her home with her mother?, died last year.
