Doughnuts Rose Kelly's recipie -1933-

3 cups milk scalded, 2 cakes Fleisherman's yeast disolved in 1/2 cup milk, 2 tablespoons sugar disolved with yeast. enough flour to spongue. Rise 1 hr. then add 2 eggs beaten with 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup melted lard, 1 teaspoon salt. Knead up like light bread. Let rise double size, then roll out and cut and let rise 45 minutes, fry in hot fat, dust in sugar. These can be flavored with spice if necessary but vanilla is preferred.
