Cucumber Pickles
4 qts. cucumbers - sliced thin 1/2 c. salt 8 white onions - sliced thin 2 qts. cracked ice -soak above ingredients in ice 3 hrs. drain and add: 5 c. sugar 5 c. red cider vinegar 1-1/2 tsp. turmeric 1 tsp. celery seed 2 tbsp. mustard seed 1/2 tsp. cloves Place in kettle on med. heat. Bring to a simmering point. Stirring often. -DO NOT BOIL- Pack in jars and seal.
