11 3/4 cups flour
2 cups milk 2 1/2 cups warm water 2 yeast cakes 1/4 cup sugar 4 teaspoons salt 2 Tablespoons shortening Mix yeast cakes into the warm water and add to the rest of the ingredients. Knead for ten minutes and then let rise until double in bulk. Punch down and form into loaves. Let rise then bake 350° for approximately 35 to 40 minutes or until done. (This is the way my father wrote the recipe down for me). Great Grandma Lizzie Bancroft's Lemon Ice Cream 1 cup pure lemon juice, strained 2 3/4 quarts cream or half and half 3 cups sugar Mix Lemon juice and sugar until sugar is dissolved. Mix in cream and pour into freezer and make according to freezer directions.
