Old Southern Light Cornbread

2 cups yellow cornmeal
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar (optional)
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
3 tbs bacon drippings
2 cups buttermilk
Combine all ingredients. Bake 300 degrees for 1 hour or until brown.
