The picture of John Tarpey in the Family section of AncientFaces was taken in Wigan, Lancashire England,not New York. He had to report to the local police station at regular intervals, because according to this Alien Registration document, he wasn't born in The British Isles. Other documentation that I have states that he was born in County Mayo, Southern Ireland, from where his parents originated. He married Jane Tilley in 1906 in Wigan, Lancashire England and lived there until his death.I am hoping that someone may recognise him, or that he bears some resemblance to some other Tarpey. He served in the British Royal Navy for 12 years as a young man, and also spent 8 months in South Africa during the Boer War. His brother was Patrick Tarpey. His parents apparently emmigrated to America when he was a boy and they lost touch. I am trying to discover where they settled and what their names were. On John Tarpey's Marriage certificate, he states that his father was Benjamin Tarpey although I have my doubts about this name as I believe that John didn't know his fathers first name.
