The story goes that when John H. Hobbs was approximately 15 years of age he stabbed his best friend in the back and killed him. John was sent to a juvenile correctional facitity until the age of 18. No one recalls exactly why John stabbed his best friend, but through the course of my genealogy work, I do have a clue. On April 4, 1929 a child was born to John H. Hobbs & a Gerdie Willingham. I am just guessing, but believe that Miss Willingham might have been a relative of John's best friend who's last name is reported to be Brightman or Brighten.
