My family's earliest history (so far) begin's in the village of Spachbruecken, Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany. Starting with my 10th Great Grandfather:

1. Barthold Mayer ca. 1600 married Eva 1639.
2. Anton Mayer ca. 1640 married Regina Mueller 9 Oct 1666.
3. Johann Dietrich Mayer ca. 1667 married Anna Margaretha Reinholtz ca. 1710.
4. Anton Mayer 14 Aug 1712 married Eva Elisabetha Gruner ca. 1733.
5. Johann Nicolaus Mayer 25 Apr 1739 married Christina Philippina Sauer 24 Apr 1760.

This begins my family's ancestry in the village of Zeilhard, Hessen-Darmstadt.

6. Georg Heinrich Mayer I 3 Mar 1772 married Anna Christina Vonderheit 19 Mar 1795.
7. Georg Heinrich Mayer II 4 Sept 1804 married Elisabetha Margaretha Klock 7 Nov 1830.

In The USA:

In May of 1850, Georg Heinrich Mayer II and his wife Elisabetha Margaretha (Klock), their children Elisabetha, Jacob, Heinrich, Anton and Peter and Georg's father left Zeilhard on the ship "Leila" sailing for 52 days, arriving in NY on the 5th Jul 1850.

The family migrated to Dodge Co., WI where the youngest son George was born in 1851. About 1864 they moved to Utica, Winona Co., MN. Henry John Mayer (7 Jan 1839) married Margaretha Oehlers in Lewiston on 22 Nov 1866. Their two oldest children were born here. The family moved once again to Blue Earth Co., MN. Georg and Elisabetha lived in the town of Lincoln with their youngest son George until their deaths.

Henry John Mayer, Sr. and his wife Margaretha purchased a Government Homestead in Butternut Valley in Blue Earth County. The rest of their children were born here.

George Gerd Henry Mayer (25 Oct 1873) married Lydia Caroline Laube 25 Oct 1898. Henry John, Sr and Margaretha remained living with him and his family until 1900 when the family first moved to Redwood Co., until about 1910 and then George, Lydia and their children moved to Deer Creek in Ottertail Co., MN.

Harold Rudolph Clarence Mayer (15 Sept 1908) married Jessie Beatrice Button 2 Aug 1929 in N. Dakota. They migrated to S. Dakota where their children were born including my father.
