DOYAL STATE OF GEORGIA WALKER COUNTY John H. Doyal, of Saint Elmo, Hamilton County, Tennessee, being first duly sworn, upon his oath deposes and says: I am 78 years of age and was born in Walker county, Georgia. I came to Walker county, Georgia, at the age of twelve years; I removed across the line into Hamilton county, Tennessee, in 1876. I know the applicant, David H. Hixon, and live about three miles from him. I know his father George Hixon, and knew his grandfather. Dave Hixon, and all his brothers, they being the sons of Tim Hixon, the Cherokee arrow maker. I knew Tim Hixon by general reputation as an arrow maker of the Cherokee tribe, and of their blood. I have know this Hixon family in Walker county for three of four generations, and know that it has always been generally understood by those best acquainted with them that they are of the Cherokee Indian blood.
