My great grandfather John William Fortner born Sept. 4,1874 and born in Tennessee married a lady Lizzie Rochelle in the 1890's. They had nine children, one boy Harvey died at about 2 years old. They eventually had 8 children living and one that died for a total of 9 children. In 1914 John Fortner went to town probably riding a horse and was never seen again. My great grandmother Lizzie took all his possessions and burned them in the fireplace, pictures everything. We had thought maybe some one killed him and threw him in Duck River in Centerville,TN. but he was seen years later in ALa. and Miss. He met a lady name Sallie Barefoot the widow of J.J. Barefoot and they were joined in some knid of Indian ceremony. She was Chickasaw we believe. This was probably around 1920 or so. Any one have any information about John or Sallie and if they had any children e-mail me. Anyone ever met him I would like to talk to them as I have a picture taken in MO. that may be him with his son Bernard Fortner. Lee Fortner
