William Marion Barrington

William Marion Barrington and his wife Amanda are listed on the 1900 Federal Census for Rutledge, Crenshaw County, Alabama. At first I was under the assumption they had only one child, a son by the name of William Henry. After a review of the above mentioned census I find a total of seven children, four daughters and three sons. Also living in the home with them was Sarah A. M. Dean, age 65. Sarah was the second wife of Charles Sumpter Dean I. Sump Dean had a son, Samuel "Mack" MacDonald Dean, who married Anna Iola Barrington, daughter of Marion Madison Barrington who was a son of Willis Barrington, the grandfather of William Marion Barrington.

William Marion Barrington and family are listed in the 1900 Federal Census for Crenshaw County, Alabama living in the Township of Rutledge. Listed are William age 39, his wife Amanda is listed as age 39. Also listed are children Willie L., age 17; William Henry age 15; Anna age 13; Walter J., age 11; Ethel age 8; Ulbert age 5 and Lillie age 1. Living in the home with them is Sarah Dean, age 65.
By the time of the 1910 Federal Census, William Barrington had added one more child to the family. The handwritting in this census is very poor and from what I can make of this, the name of the last child is "Robbie" Barrington, 8 years of age. Also from this census I find Sarah Dean still living at age 75. By the time of this census I find three children were no longer living at home. They were Willie, Henry and Anna. Henry was listed as single, living alone at the age of 24.
