Pat Hallinan of Cootamundra was 66 when he died in 1953.
He was admitted to Sacred Heart Hospital and died three hours after. He was admitted with serious chest injuries as a result of his own car striking him when he cranked it while it was in gear. The accident happened at the rear of Messrs. Hallinan Bros.' store in Parker Street. Apparently he was thrown against the corner of the building, because the downpiping was torn away. The car was an old model Dodge it careered out the gate into the lane and ran into Mr Jack Croker's back fence. Pat Hallinan was my grandfather, his father: PAT HALLINAN SENIOR died when he was 80. He kept the old 'Balowrie' Inn before the railway was built. His wife was 80 years of age when he died. They were married at Braidwood and she was a May Adams. He was also the licensee of the old Australian Hotel which was de licenced. As a contractor, he had the job of constructing the first kerbing and guttering work in the main streets of Cootamundra (Australia). His sons were Mick and Pat (see above) of Hallinan Bros Cootamundra, Martin (Tumut) Charlie (Cootamundra) and daughters Mrs Thatcher and Mrs Dwyer (Sydney) and Mrs Ivan Munro (Cootamundra) His brothers were James (Cootamundra) John Bethungra sisters Bridget (nun in New Zealand) Mrs Fogarty (Temora) Mary (Bethungra) and Mrs Rigney (Pinkerton) Does anyone know of anyone who may be related to these people?
