There are several family name spellings for a line of Puterbach, which came out of Pennsylvania to Canada back in the late 1800's to early 1900's. They settled in Vaughan Ontario and farmed the land. As the family grew they spread out in different directions and some went west to Kincardine and Farmed, while others went north to Algoma and west to Michigan. Others stayed and worked and grew their families in the area of Vaughan and some of the line out of Algoma also came back to Toronto where they also raised families first settling in Peel area. Others out in Scarborough area and some went down to Trenton Ontario.
Many variations of the name exist such as Puterbaugh, Peuterbaugh, and Peterbaugh this is my Ontario Line (PETERBAUGH). I have done much research on the name and so have a few others ( Hi Vicky ). I hope that those of you who are from the Puterbaugh/Peterbaugh lines will come here and post some stories and Pictures so that they may be shared with others around the world and here in CANADA TOO!
