I am currently a young Hairston in search of more about my ancestors. I hardly know anything about my Hairston lineage and the family members that I'm I have. My mother is a Hairston, and her dad was a Hairston. My grandfather's name was Donald Eugene Hairston and I have never heard of him having any siblings. I think that my Great-Grandmother's name was Mary, but I am not sure that she was a Hairston or if she was given this name after marriage to my Great-Grandfather. My Grandfather was killed when my mother was 12 years old, and neither of us have had the opportunity to know much about our genealogy. If anyone has any information that could be beneficial to either of us in our conquest, I would greatly appreciate anything that you could offer. The only thing that I know about my Hairston family lineage is that my Grandfather was in the military, he passed away between 1970-1973, he had no other children other than my mother, most of the family is from Walnut Cove, NC, and his mother was named Mary.
