Comments about this story:
The Shuck-Zickafoose Cemetary in Danese WV has been a very special part of my life for basically 40 years. My paw-paw is Grady Zickafoose, Uncle Oliver was his last brother when Uncle Oliver died in Mar. 2007 he was the last of the Benjamin and Virginia's boy's to die. Uncle Herb I couldnt believe he got killed in that tractor accident, we used to hunt on his farm back in the early 70's last time I saw Uncle Herb(Zickafoose Rd. Ansted WV) was at paw-paw's(Grady Zickafoose's) funeral in Cross Lanes WV in Feb 2003 Uncle Herb looked GREAT!! Is Johnny Zickafoose still alive I havent seen him in right at 30 years or more. Does anybody know who's living at Uncle Olivers farm?? Is Jill still there if she is tell her Todd Ellis in Charleston say's hello, I really miss all the family reunions at Babcock almost everybody's gone though. My maw-maw(Thurma Mae Smith Zickafoose) and my Paw-Paw(Grady Zickafoose) got married at the White Oak Church back in the late 30's, my mom is Janet Zickafoose Ellis of Charleston WV. Anyway I have too much to type please e-mail me Todd Ellis at TTEllis@aol.com Charleston WV....by the way I was at the Shuck-Zickafoose Cemetary this past Memorial Day weekend(2008) and it was BEAUTIFUL, I drove up to the bottom of it. Two baby's Darlene and Grady Jr. both Zickafooses are buried up there its very special to me. Take care Todd in Charleston WV Submitted by: ToddE Oct 19, 2008

Hi Stacey, I have also been to the Zickafoose cemetary and you are right....it's awesome. My husband thinks it's like Walton's Mountain. Oliver is my Great Uncle. His brother Elmer was my Grandfather and my Dad is Lloyd Zickafose. I have some information on the Zickafoose's and when I get a minute, I'll e-mail what I have. I'm at work right now but when I get home this weekend, I'll send you some e-mail addresses that I just received on the Berry side. My cousin Roger died on March 5, 2007, age 50, from Lookout and I got to see some relatives I haven't seen in awhile. Roger's Father was Uncle Herbert and he was killed in a tractor accident last August. That was the last time I saw Uncle Oliver. I wish that someone would put the sign back on the Zickafoose Church. They took it down to paint it and it was never put back. I live in Delaware and try to get down once or twice a year. I'm usually the one to organize any family reunions and I'm hoping we can get one together next year. That's an Adkins wedding out to the farm this year. Uncle Herbert's daughter, Karen is the Mother of the bride which would be Kristen. Seems like a zillion little people but acutally there are only 3 Zickafoose boys left in our immediate family. Danny, his grandson, Tyler and my brother, Tom. Please e-mail me. Cindy Submitted by: CindyZickafoose Mar 30, 2007
