It was a Friday night in 1954 when dad went out with his friend Sal the painter and some of the guys. They went to the Hollywood Terrace. Dad and Sal were standing by the entrance when Sal asked dad if he would like to meet someone nice. Dad said "Sure"! Sal replied, "Do you see that girl over there standing with her friends, her name is Marianne. I know her family. She is really special". Dad took one look at her and he said, "She is so beautiful, I have to meet her". Sal introduced Tony to Marianne and they started to talk. It was love at first site, and the rest is history!
When dad proposed to mom he got down on one knee and asked, "Marianne I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?" Mom was so nervous that she started to laugh and cry at the same time, but she said "Yes, Yes, Yes". Their engagement party was at Gargulio's in Coney Island. It was a small, intimate dinner with immediate family and some close friends. After dinner, they went back to Grandma Rose and Grandpa Angelo's house and the party continued. More family and friends came over and they ordered some pizza, ate, and drank the night away. Marianne and Tony were married on Saturday, October 29, 1955, at St. Finbar's Church and the wedding reception followed at the Hamilton House in Brooklyn, New York. Their wedding song was Strangers in Paradise. It was a beautiful reception and they made a handsome couple.
