My Dane family has roots in Maryland, Kentucky and Texas and in that order. My research show the Dane/Dean families arriving from England in about 1609 to Maryland. My direct decendant, James Dane/Dean born in 1773, Maryland, came to Wayne Co., Kentucky in about 1805. He had several boys who ended up also having large families in Kentucky. 6 Dane boys fought in the Civil War representing Kentucky Union Regiments. By 1900, many Dane families had left to Texas, mostly Montague, Bowie, Texas. This is a truly American family that has a legacy of farming, church life(mostly Baptist) and good people.
