My gggg grandfather was James Adams of County Derry Northern Ireland. His wife was Nannie Smith.James and Nannie had two sons-that we know of.Robert married Betty Culton and they had a son James b. 1796 d. 1877. James married Matilda(Matty) Millar and they had six children. Their daughter Mary born in 1832 was my great-grandmother.She married my ggrandfather Robert Morrison and they had sons Robert James Adams, Matilda Millar, and John (my grandfather)and a nother daughter Sarah Ellen. After Robert Sr. died Mary married Robt. Ferguson who had two children. In 1873 the combined families came to Aylwin, Quebec. Mary died in 1885, only twelve years after coming to Canada. There are many descendants, and once in a while we "find" someone else. My grandfather John Morrison married Mary McConnell, daughter of William and Sarah McConnell. William actually came from the same part of Ireland as the Morrisons and Adams Wm.'s first wife was another Mary Adams and most likely was related to the Mary who married Robert Morrison! What a puzzle to sort out.!
Comments about this story:
On my mother's step-father's side of the family is Annie McAlpine-Adams who married Jim (James) Adams in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Annie McAlpine-Adams was a sister to Patrick James McAlpine, Sr. who came from County Mayo, Cork region of Ireland, settled and married in Colorado and eventually made their home in Holyoke, Massachusetts. They came from Ireland from the County Mayo, Cork region. I have a public family tree at Ancestry.com under "Bissonnette-Christian-Brown-McAlpine-Barr-Wadsworth-Holden-Tiger-Root-Oatkey-Atkins-Nave-Branchcomb-Nichols-Walz-Gelinas-Vann." If you can't access it at Ancestry.com, it can be viewed through RootsWeb.com. I don't know very much about the Adams part of the family and still working on the McAlpine side, if anyone has any info they would like to input for my Family Tree please feel free to contact me. I have been adding tombstone pictures of the front and backs of McAlpine and McNairn, etc. stones from St. Jerome and Calvary Cemeteries in Holyoke, Massachusetts for family members. Feel free to view my public tree and/or add comments or E-mail me with any family info you would like to add.
