My great great grandfather was William John Foley born around 1869.He served in the middlesex regiment during the boer war and world war one.His family came to middlesex during the Boer War and they lived in a town called isleworth near hownslow, whilst he was serving in the army.
Williams daughter maragret foley died in 1902 age 5 of menigeists. She is buried in hownslow cemetry .William also served in world war one from 1915-1918 his family moved back home to cheshire during the ww1 where they lived for the rest of their lives .William recieved 2 medals for ww1 and was discharged in march 1918 due to his health .On Williams army card it says he was also in the army band called the big drum .Sadley William died in 1927 his son Harold was with him when he died ,at least he wasnt alone .I wanted to pay respect for this brave man who survived two wars and put his life at risk for his country .To me he is a hero
and i will continue to pass on his storey through our generations so he will live on and never be forgotten.
