I am searcing for information on my Great Grandfather William Cherry. As the stories have been told, his name was William Cherry but he got in some trouble with the law and fled and then assumed the name William Williams. I found a 1920 census record showing William Cherry was born in Florida; his father was born in Florida and his mother was born in Tennessee but I can't find any records of his parents. He married my Great Grandmother, Minnie Ola McKendree. I have been looking for a few years but can't find anything further on William Cherry or William Williams! Check the Social Security death index. I noted a number of William Cherrys. If you see one that looks like it might be him send for his Social Security info and that will tell you who his father and mother were. It will also tell you where he died if he did. Good luck
