The Wahl Family who migrated to Baltimore in 1851. My book details the meeting of a young Mick Wahl and Catherine Hogan who later became husband and wife. A daughter of Mick and Catherine Wahl later married into the Gaeng family (excerpt from book below).

"The Flora McDonald, an 18-ton Cutter sailing ship mastered by Captain J. L. Kenny, sat heavy in the Yorkshire harbor. The ship carried a crew of eight hands who had been making ready for another voyage from Yorkshire, England, originating from Ireland on its way to Baltimore, Maryland in the colonies of America.

"Among the passengers was Mick Wahl, a young, healthy Irishman from Kilkenny. He was living his dream to cross the big water and find his fortune in The Colonies of America.

"Another group of passengers on the Flora McDonald was the Hogan family. Their dreams were much the same as Mick Wahl’s, to find their fortune in Baltimore.

Little did they know, the two young adventurers, Mick Wahl and Catherine Hogan, would not meet by chance but rather by fate as they boarded the vessel on the 16th day of April, 1851."

A family history book by writers and family researchers, Carol L. Vaeth and Francis M. Schmitz, III.
