My grandmother, Mary Catherine Anderson, was married to a Waller Oakes around 1929-30. She was from San Antonio, TX, went to the Chicago Art Institute in 1930-31, and then moved to New York City. She divorced Waller Oakes in 1933-34.

Does anyone know more about Waller Oakes? I would like to find exact dates of Marriage and Divorce, and anything else, such as where Waller Oakes was from and what happened to him.

Hello Valerie, I also am an Oakes but don't have a Waller in my files. However there is northern Oakes' and southern Oakes' that to this point noone has been able to connect, I'm sure they do somehow or another. I have an email address for Jane Oakes that has a lot of info on the southern Oakes. I haven't emailed her in a while so I hope it is still active. I'm sure she will help you if she can.
