My earliest know Jones ancestors from Morfa Nefyn are Griffith Jones born circa 1796 and Evan Hughes born circa 1772. Although not a Jones, a form of welsh patronymics meant that Evan's son was called Hugh Jones. Hugh married Elizabeth Jones, the daughter of Griffith Jones. Griffith, Evan and Hugh were all mariners in the coastal trade.
