Martha Adeline was a baby when her grandfather assembled a wagon train and migrated from North Carolina to Wyoming County VA (now WV).This wagon caravan was made up mostly of persons from Cherokee Indian ancestry,still possesing some tribal customs,various relics and many primitive artifacts.Their migration was just prior to the Governments forced relocation of Indians from the Southeastern United States to easten Oklahoma.This forced erlocation became known as the Cherokee Indian Trail of Tears and the Indians that survived the move became known as the Western Band of Cherokee. The 1860 cencus of Wyoming County,Virginia listed John Sizemore and Franklin Sizemore,as members of the Numa Walker household on Devils Fork.They were brothers of Martha Ardelia Sizemore and were very young Children at the death of their father Preacher John Sizemore in 1853.Martha had five young children at home when her husband served in the Cival War. Martha had been with the George Walker Family(her son)in the Bluff Mountain area near Egeria,WV where a number of family members had gathered on December 14,1899 for the annual hog killing occasion which was a favorite event among the hill-people.Martha was present at the fire which was essential for the fourth coming kill.She at the time was caring eight months old grandaughter Ada Walker when she passed Ada to someone else and remarked "Take care of her".She then started toward house,and was stricken ill and collapsed.Her death occured that snowy winter night.She is burried in Keaton Mills Cemetery near Egeria,WV.
