1. Hiram Lewis James-served in Union Army enlisting Oct. 13, 1861 with his brother, John Ballard and brother-in-law John Driskell. Hiram served 6 mo. And 3 days as a private in Co. E, Phelps County, MO, Infantry. He was wounded at Pea Ridge on March 7, 1862. He re-enlisted as a corporal Nov. 1, 1863 in Co. B 16 MO Cavalry for a year and 8 mo. And received an injury to his head and neck. John died of measles at the camp hospital in Rolla 2 mo. After enlisting. Hiram and John enlisted after their father, Jessee Ballard James was hung by the Confederates. They accused him of selling grain, flour, etc. to the Union Army. Jessee had a grist mill in Topaz, Missouri

My great grandmothers sister Malinda C. Freeman was married to Joseph James after my great uncle James Johnson died, they both died in Payne, OK, I believe he was kin to your Hiram, they lived in Missouri before OK.
