Labor Day Weekend

September 2, 2006

Labor Day was first celebrated over 100 years ago. An initial proposal for the holiday suggested that the day should celebrate "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations" and, following a parade, a festival for the recreation and amusement of the workers and their families should be held.

The news media still covers the American worker and his/her contributions to American society on Labor Day, but the majority of American citizens take advantage of the three day holiday to celebrate the last days of summer. We at AncientFaces would like to salute all of those who, through their efforts, have made this wonderful nation productive and innovative. The American worker is still the engine in the American economy!
