Veteran's Day

November 11, 2006

On the 11th of November Americans celebrate Veteran's Day, honoring those who have fallen in previous wars. Veteran's Day was originally known as Armistice Day, named after the Armistice signed on November 11, 1918 ending World War I. In 1938, Armistice Day became an official holiday. It
was not until after World War II that November 11th became known as Veteran's Day, due to the large volume of soldiers who lost their lives in World War II who had no experience in the first world war.

At AncientFaces, we honor veterans through preserving the stories and images of those who have participated in Armed Forces around the world.
