Albert Edward Hinkley

Jill Martin
My father was 2 years old when his parents shifted from Warragul to Invercargill. Moving to Southland NZ was a brave new start for Albert and Ellen.
My father was Albert Edward Hinkley. The firstborn of the family was George who died and my father was the only surviving child to be born in australia.
Eight more children were born in Southland. They were Ethel, Tom, Bob,Jack, Hazel, Les, Ivy and Norman. Sadly Norman died as a little baby and the wonderful mother of them all died on 25th May 1927.
The family owned a beautiful farm at Forest Hill, Browns Gap near Winton. The children all worked hard from an early age and grew up to be fine young people.
In time my father moved to Wellington where he met Iris Tregenza and they were married on July 18th 1931. They had a son they named Donald Albert, a second son called Evan Richard and eventually I was born and they named me Jill Elizabeth.
After nearly forty years of living in Wellington, my Dad retired at age 65 and Dad Mum and I moved to beautiful Picton in the Marlborough Sounds. I am still here after nearly 48 years. My Mother passed away in December 1991 and Dad seven months later in July of 1992 at the age of ninety.
