Fredrick Jack Voyles BELLE FOURCHE - Fredrick (Jack) Voyles age 87 of Belle Fourche, died Thursday February 7, 2008 at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Sturgis. The funeral service will be held 10:30 am Tuesday at the Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche, with Rev. Paul Howard officiating. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 PM Monday at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in the Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Belle Fourche Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and family may sign the online guestbook available at www.funeralhomeofthe [external link] Fredrick John (Jack) Voyles was born May 9, 1920 in Belle Fourche to Robert F. and Alma (Simmons) Voyles. Jack grew up in Belle Fourche where he attended school and graduated from the Belle Fourche High School in 1938. After his graduation he moved to California for flight training and flew with the California Flyers. He also worked in the North America Aircraft Plant, building B-24 Bombers. Jack returned to Belle Fourche in 1941 and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he served his country for four years. In 1946 he was honorably discharged and he returned to Belle Fourche where he joined his father in the family businesses: Voyles Insurance Agency, and Belle Fourche Realty and Abstract Company. In 1946 he married Alyce Pritzkau. To this union three children were born: Barbara, Kevin, and Clayton. Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his cabin. He was a devoted family man and spent a lot of time with both family and friends. Jack loved airplanes and flying. He was a pilot all his life and built his own Midget Mustang airplane. He enjoyed music and played in the Belle Fourche Cowboy Band for 73 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 32 for 63 years, the Black Hills Roundup Committee for 50 years, and the Christian Life Center. Jack and his sons owned and operated Black Hills Dragway, also known as Dakota Intermountain Dragway, for a number of years. Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Alyce of Belle Fourche; daughter, Barbara (Bob) Anderson of Pierpont SD; sons, Kevin (Diane) Voyles of Belle Fourche, Clayton (Dianne) Voyles of Rapid City; 4 grandsons, Robert Anderson of Rapid City, Kyle Anderson of Brookings, and Eric (Becky) Anderson of Pierpont SD, Cory (Tessa) Voyles of Belle Fourche; 4 granddaughters Brooke (Paul) Olson of Bismarck ND, Tiffany (Matthew) Frederickson of Rapid City, Heather Voyles of Rapid City, Danielle Voyles of Belle Fourche; 2 great-grandsons, Aiden Voyles of Belle Fourche and Jaxsyn Olson of Bismarck ND; sister, Joanne Locke of Puyallup WA; sister-in-law, Joyce Voyles of Belle Fourche; and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Thompson; and brother, Robert Voyles.
