For years, I kept hearing about my grandfather's grandfather who ran away with another woman during the Civil War leaving behind a young wife and several Children. Knowing my grandaddy as I did, there was no way I could believe him being the descendant of such a man. It took me 30+ years but just recently recieved the paperwork showing he was "conscripted" aka kidnapped somewhere between Braxton Co., (W) VA and Greenbrier Co., (W)VA where he and I'm not sure how many other Confederate soldiers were captured by the Union. This happened 26 Nov 1862. He was sent to three different POW Camps before he arrived at Camp Douglas POW Camp, Chicago, IL where he died on 2 Jan 1863. he was 36 years old at the time of death. I am now working with the government to supply a Civil War Monument in his memory to be placed in our Family Cemetery on land that his brother donated for a church and cemetery. I plan to have the monument placed just above the grave of my grandaddy. My Civil War Ancestor was Lewellyn FRAME married to Jane Boggs of Braxton Co., WV USA...

Claire Kinkaid There is quite a memorial of Mabel Frame on the Ellis County Courthouse in Waxahachie, Texas. A lover spurned by Miss Frame carved not only her face, but other parts of her at the top of the courthouse.

Ray Schwartz go to the sons of confederate vetrans website, find the nearest scv camp to you , ask them for help getting the marker , that is one of there main goals to help get markers, they can even supply a honor guard for placing the marker .
