"John and Patience" Williams family story
Notes for JOHN M. WILLIAMS:
The following info is from Carol Jean Tanner, a gg-granddaughter of John Williams:
This is the story my grandfather told me that his grandfather (John Williams) told him. Neither set of their parents approved of their marriage because she was Eastern Cherokee Indian and he was white. They were married in the middle of the road in front of her parents house in NC and left to go to Arkansas to settle. Neither would speak of their families in NC and neither would give any family info prior to their marriage. John Willliams was a Union Army Soldier and also a veternarian.
Info I have collected over the years.
