"My grandmother, Melissa Obitts" Obitts family story
I have one clear memory of my grandmother, Melissa Obitts. I was probably 4 or 5 years old and she was painting my fingernails. She had a funny way of breathing, in and out quite loudly, because she was a smoker. She was not an extremely affectionate woman, but I can remember myself being interested in her. She was sort of glamorous like a movie star. She painted my little fingernails, no hugs, no kisses, and that was that.
