HE WAS HELD IN THE CONFEDERATE PRISONS OF ANDERSONVILLE, GEORGIA AND SALISBURY, NORTH CAROLINA AND WAS EXCHANGED IN 1865. HE MUSTERED OUT OF THE SERVICE ON JAN. 14, 1865 AFTER SERVING 3 YEARS AND 5 MONTHS. JAMES ABSHIRE WAS A MEMBER OF THE G.A.R. POST 119, MIDDLETOWN, INDIANA. SONS NAME : VEO. CARLTON ABSHIRE, MIDDLETOWN, INDIANA.
