Alva Mae Ahrens May 21, 1899 - Feb 27, 1950 Oil City, Pennsylvania, United States
Alva Mae Ahrens was born to Albert C. and Mary Long Bender, and had siblings Leo Bender and Mrs. Arthur Muldoon, and Mrs. Clement Hale. She married Christy W. Ahrens on December 3rd 1920 in Oil City and had two sons Robert L. and Pvt. Donald P. Ahrens. According to the 1930s census she was 30 and Christie was 31 living at 63 Siverly Avenue in Oil City with her sons Robert (age 7) and Donald (age 2) and sister-in-law Pearl V Bender (age 18). Ten years later, according to the 1940s census, the family lived at 766 Colbert Avenue with their sons then aged 17 and 12. Alva was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Oil City Pennsylvania. She passed away at her home on February 27th 1950 also in Oil City.

Ingredients:
2 - 3 medium potatoes
1/4 cup melted butter
1 egg white
sprinkle ginger
dash nutmeg
salt

Directions:
Wash,peel and slice potatoes
mix all other ingredients, but salt together
Dip the potatoes into the mixture, so that they are fully covered
Place on a ungreased baking sheet
sprinkle salt over the potatoes
Cook at 375 degrees for 14 min.
Flip potatoes and cook for another 5 min.
(A fork should be able to go through them)
Cool for 1 - 2 minutes
Serve immediately

2 ham Steaks
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
pinch black pepper

Directions:
Heat oven to 325 degrees farenheit
place ham steaks into 1 (or 2) non greased baking pans (the steaks should not be touching)
mix all other ingredients together in a small bowl
Spread evenly over ham steaks
Cook for 30 min.
Serve immediately
