W. Arrington, died at the home of Hon. W. H. Kitchin on the 18th ult. aged 68 years. Her maiden name was Miss Alston, of a noted family and well known in this State and other parts of the South. She was the mother of Mrs. C.C.P. Henderson, of Miss., Mrs. W.D. Dunn and Mrs. W.H. Kitchin, of this place. She leaves 23 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was a consistent member of the Methodist Church, and was a lady of high moral worth and leaves her imprint for good on those with whom she lived. The Democrat tenders sympathy to the bereaved friends and loved ones. The Commonwealth, 1 August 1889, Page 3 [Scotland Neck, North Carolina] Notes: 1. Although the tombstone says "Anne" that is the only place I have seen that version of her name. To family, she was known as Anna or Annie, according to family records and my grandmother (who was Anna's great-granddaughter). 2. The stone and our family records agree that she died on the 18th, but the newspaper says it was the 17th. George Arrington ran away from home in 1902 at the age of 14. At that time he joined a circus. No further information is available.

Lewis Henry Arrington and Sarah Arrington were married in the nineteen thirties. Children's names are unknown. They lived in Craven County, New Bern Township. He served in World War I, and after his discharge from the military service he worked as an electrician for the New Bern Township. Their residence was located at 313 Liberty Street, New Bern Township. This was their address until his death April 20, 1962 at the Good Shepherd Hospital in New Bern township. No further information on others of the Arrington family.

Susan Arrington was living with others of the Arrington family when the 1900 census was taken. The family was living in Rocky Mt. Township on Holly Street with their mother, Charlotte Arrington, and her brothers and sisters, Anna, Frances, Samuel,
George, and Lewis Henry Arrington. When the 1910 census was taken, the family was much smaller. Lewis Henry Arington was head of the household. Charlotte Arrington was not listed in the 1910 census, and the family had moved from the Holly Street address in Edgecome County Rocky Mount Township to the Nash County side of Rocky Mt. Township. The other family members now were Frances, Susan, and Merther Arrington. Susan Arrington's date of marriage is uncertain, and also to whom. She died in Johnson City, Tennessee in the nineteen thirties.

William Daniel and Lucy Arrington were married April 6, 1881, in Halifax County. No further information on either of them.

Alexander Davis and Priscilla Arrington were married January 22, 1884, in Halifax County. No other information on either of them.

John Bryant and Della Arrington were married November 21, 1877, in Halifax County. No further information on either of them.

The place of burial, Wilson County, Elm City Township. After his death, Annie Deans Cohen continued to live at the same location until her death May 7, 1972, at the Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mt. She was 97 years old.

Daisy Deans Lived with her parents in the Toisnot Township area until her death. She died September 13, 1922 of typhoid fever. She was burried in Elm City Township.

James Deans lived with his parents for a number of years. He travelled frequently from state to state, sometimes as a chef/cook. He always would return to the Toisnot Township area where the Joshua Deans, Sr., family was living. Just prior to his death he was living with his sister, Glendora Pierce Fox in Rocky Mt. Township. He had been in ill health for quite some time and died September 12, 1937, in Edgecomb County, Rocky Mt. Township. He was burried in Elm City Township.

Ernest Deans lived with his parents for a number of years. He and Nannie Pearl Franklin were married July 3, 1937, Nash County, Nashville Township. They lived in Elm City Township until his death. He died June 21, 1951. He was burried in Elm City Township. Nannie Pearl Franklin Deans died in 1953, also in Elm City Township and buried there.

Allen Deans grew up in the Toisnot Township area along with other members of the Deans family. He was walking along the highway between Elm City Township and Wilson Township. The time was approximately 7:30 - 8:00 p.m. He was struck by an auto travelling at a high rate of speed. He died the following day, January 20, 1929. He was buried in Elm City Township.

Lewis Henry Deans and Gilberta Lothery were married in 1938, in Romeo, Michigan. Gilberta Lothery Deans died in 1942, in Washington, D. C.

They were living on the Walter Brice Plantation and would often visit their relatives, Charity Strickland Bullock Pender and the Joshua Deans, Sr. family. John Tokes and Sarah Strickland were married November 7, 1887, Nash County. No further information on either of them.

VICK FAMILY

Joseph Vick and Mary Perry were married December 25, 1872, Nash County. Parents of Thomas Vick, b. 1862; his son and her stepson, Robert Vick, b. 1874; Bob, b. 1876; Reubin, b. 1877; Susan, b. 1879. All of the Joseph Vick children were born in Nash County. Mary Perry was the sister of Rebecca Perry, first wife of Joshua Deans, Sr. No further information on Bob, Reubin, and Susan Vick.

Thomas Vick and Della Baines were marrried April 9, 1885, Nash County. Parents of Gilbert, b. May 1888; Crawford,b. May 1892; Jack, b. July 1894; Arthur, b. February 1896; Junie, b. October 1897; Dorch, b. June 1898; Netta, b. June 1900; Nathaniel, b. 1901-d. April 20, 1925; George, b. 1903, Octoby, b. 1904; Bessie,b. 1907-d. March 3, 1925; Elijah, b. 1909; Moses, b. 1911. All of the Vick children were born in Nash County. Nathaniel and Bessie died in Nash County. No further information on the Thomas Vick children, except Jack, Dorch, and Moses. Della Bainies Vick died in 1945, Nash County.

Jack Vick and E. J. Weaver were married on May 7, 1913, Nash County. All of the children were stillbirth: September 22, 1920, Bailey Township; March 19, 1922, Spring Hope Township; March 1924, Manning Township; July 1, 1925, Manning Township. No further information Jack Vick and E. J. Weaver Vick.

Dorch Vick and Mary Lee Barnes were the Parents of a stillbirth, November 9, 1930. The date of the marriage is uncertain. No further information on either of them.

Moses Vick and Evelyn Jefferson were married September 16, 1937, Nash County, Parents of James Vick, b. November 28, 1939; Della Mae, b. August 17, 1941; Thomas, b. September 12, 1943; Junie, August 15, 1945; Oscar, b. July 31, 1946. All of the Moses Vick children werer born in Nash County, Dry Well Township. No further information on the Vick children. Moses Vick died June 18, 1952, Nash County.

Robert Vick and Addie Manning were married July 17, 1911, Nash County. Parents of a stillbirth, October 23, 1926; a stillbirth, February 15, 1929; and Roy and Paul (twins), b. November 3, 1931. All of the Vick children were born in Nash County, Dry Well Township. No further information on the Robert Vick family.

Biscoe Hagans, b. 1866, in North Carolina, and JULIA ARRINGTON PIERCE DEANS, b. November 29, 1881, Halifax County, Faucetts Township, North Carolina. They were married December 6, 1940, in Toisnot Township. The Hagans chihldren are Albert Lee, b. Jan. 1892; Willie, b. August 1895; Clara, b. October 1897; Joseph, b. 1901, and Johnnie, b. 1904. All of the Biscoe Hagans children were born in Wilson County. No further information on Willie Hagans.

Albert Lee Hagans and Maggie Groom were married January 20, 1915, in Wilson County Township. Parents of Willie Hagans, b. 1915; John Richard, b. 1917; Samuel, b. 1919; Jesse James, b. 1921; Addie Mae, b. 1923; Gladys McCree, b. 1926; and Biscoe, b. 1929. All of the Albert Lee Hagans children were born in Toisnot Township except Addie Mae. She was born in Wilson Township.

Willie Hagans and Rosetta Faison were married during the nineteen thirties. The exact date is unknown. They chose Philadelphia, Pa. for their residence. The exact date of the death of Willie Hagans is unknown.

Joseph Hagans and Estelle Dawson were married May 18, 1925, Wilson County, Elm City Township. Parents of Joseph, Jr., b. 1927, Toisnot Township; William, b. 1929, Toisnot Township. The Joseph Hagans, Sr., family moved to Philadelphia, Pa., in 1931. Estelle Dawson Hagans died in 1937, in Philadelphia.

Joseph Hagans, Sr., and Jeuverna Halloman were married in 1941 in Phildelphia, Pa. Joseph founded the Hagan's Auto Repair shop in 1939, and after he retired in 1978, turned the business over to his sons, Joseph, Jr. and William. Joseph Hagans, Sr., died December 15, 1982, in Philadelphia, Pa. His wife, Jeuverna Halloman Hagans is currently living in Philadelphia. His sons are still in the auto repair business.
Johnnie Hagans and Carrie Battle were married February 6, 1926, in Wilson Township. Parents of Marianne Hagans, b. 1927, Elm City Township; Johnnie Hubert, b. 1929, Elm City Township; Clara Rematha, b. 1933, Toisnot Township; James Douglas, b. 1935, Toisnot Township.

Jack Batts and Marianne Hagans were married during the nineteen forties. No records were available for the exact date. They lived in the Toisnot Township area for a number of years. Marianne Batts Hagans died in recent years. No records were available for the exact year or date of her death.

Johnnie Hubert lived with his parents in the Toisnot Township area for a number of years. No records were available for date of his marriage. He chose Wilson Township for his residence, and worked with his father in the auto repair business.

Biscoe Hagans died in 1943 in Toisnot Township. After his deather Julia Arrington Pierce Deans Hagans continued to live in the Toisnot Township area until August 1961. She moved to Ivor, Va. to live with her daughter, Martha Mae Deans McClain and her son-in-law Theodore R. McClain. She was in ill health at that time, and on November 6, 1961, Dr. W. F. Doughtry of Courtland, Va. came to the McClain's home and treated her. He was her physician from November 6, 1961, until her death September 22, 1972. She died in Southampton County, Zuni Township, Virginia. She was buried in Wilson County, Elm City Township, North Carolina.

CHARLIE HAGANS AND JULIUS HAGANS, BROTHERS OF BISCOE HAGANS

Charlie Hagans, b. 1860, North Carolina. His wife, Charity, b. 1860, North Carolina. They were married in 1881, Wilson County. Parents of Martha Hagans, b. March 1882; Lewis, b. April 1884; Johnny, b. September 1885; Isaac, b. March 1887; Lou R., b. June 1889, Charlie, Jr., b. July 1898. All of the Charlie Hagans, Sr. children were born in Wilson County.
