Bain Family History & Genealogy

William and Ada Bain raised 5 boys in Nine Elms London.
The boys William, Albert, Arthur, Reginald and Lenny.

My grandad was Reginald, born 16th september 1926.
He was the best and served in the merchant navy.
He married joan marie hill my nan,who had worked in a brewery, and on 4th may 1958 had robert bain, my dad.
My grandad met my nan at pontin street nine elms they then moved in 1958
and lived at 149 mitcham lane, streatham, london.
my grandad went on to be an electrical engineer for british relay who then ran his own business Design Systems & Communications. He could turn his hand to anything!
My nan was a head cook at chestnut grove in balham.

My dad married Elizabeth ann nolan (ann) and had me on 18th may 1978 - clapham south.

my dad had met my mum as they were neighbours. My dad trained as an accountant who then went onto to work for j sainsburys as a pensions manager, he retires april 2010.
My mum works at graveney schoo, tooting, london. as a school administrator.

Sadly my nan passed away 16 may 1993.
Unexpected, i was gutted. my nan was everthing to me and for so many others aswell.

They say as one life goes out, another comes in.
How true this is...
July 8th 2003 i fathered a beautiful boy - Reginald 'Reggie' Sean Bain, his mum julie anne black.
Reginald after my grandad, the best. Born at st helier hospital, sutton, surrey.

Again my world was tipped upside down, and on 6th may 2009 my grandad reginald robert bain passed away.
But again, i have just found out great news that i will father a child again with my partner stacey rooke. And if a boy he will definitely be named Robert 'Bobby' Bain.
Obviously after my dad.
Who just like my grandad is everthing to me.
Bobby should be due 5th jan 2010.

Work wise i have tried everything, scaffolding, fencing, fitness instructor, lifeguard, insurance consultant and now a roofer.
Insurance was my main career but afterbeing involved in some silly mistakes in life i was forced to leave the industry. So roofing (asphalting) is my way at the moment to earn.

I own a 3bed masionette in sutton, surrey. Drive a renault trafic van 2005.

My motto : may you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live.

My great grandmother on my father's side was a Bain. She married a Tankersley. They were all from the hills of Mississippi around Kosciusko and Ethel Mississippi. My grandmother, Annie Tankersley, married Jessie Floyd Brown, and they had 6 children---My father was born the fifth after 4 girls--- Virginia (Gince), Willie Belle (Sissie), Johnny Mae (Jonse), and Ethel (Eck). My father, Jessie Floyd Brown Jr was born in Holly Ridge, Mississippi in Feb. of 1926. I remember my grandmother--whose mother was a Bain--telling of Frank James coming to see her uncle at their farm when Grandmama was young--either 5 or 8, I don't remember how old she was. The Bain family was always very close knit, hardworking. My father joined the Navy in 1943, and saw duty in the South Pacific theater of war, Korea and Viet Nam. He retired in 1967, and still lives close to my brother in Houma, LA. Many years ago, some of the Bains moved from Mississippi to Texas. One of those Baines, as they called themselves then, was the mother of Lyndon Baines Johnson. I don't mean that she moved from Mississippi, but that some of her earlier kinfolk did. There are many, many Bain's in the hills of Mississippi. There is a Bain cemetery located in Attala county Mississippi, discovered after 1960. In the cemetery are Murdock (1795-1879) and Nancy Bain (nee sinclair)(1801-1887); Isabella Bain-1830-?; John Bain-1839-1853-john Bain was the first to be buried there; Catharine Bain-1841-1900?; Martha Bain-1844-1911; the sons of hugh and mildred octavier bain & the grandsons of murdock & Nancy Bain; Cooper Bain; Infant Bain.
