David, who founded and led the Black Disciples, a prominent Chicago-based street gang, played a significant role in Yvonne's life. The gang garnered widespread media attention, particularly after the murder of one of its members, an 11-year-old named Robert Sandifer. Despite the challenges associated with David's involvement in gang activities, Yvonne remained married to him until his untimely death at the age of 27.
