Name Origin

The name Bartelink is a farm-name from the east of the Netherlands, i.e. "Erve Bartelink". Which one (there were in that region probably three farms with the name Het Bartelink) is uncertain. But our family is most certain from the neighbourhood of Borne (Overijssel).
My husbands mother was a Bartelink from Suriname. Her great-grandfather was Frederik Bartelin(c)k from Amsterdam. His parents were Pieter Willem Bartelin(c)k from Almelo and Helena Bosscher from Amsterdam.
Fredrik/Frederik Bartelink *1811 Amsterdam died in 1838 in Suriname and left 3 sons with their mother, his slave Judicque. Their son Egbert Jacobus Bartelink *1833 is our great-grandfather. The other 2 sons were Wijnand Frederik *1832 and Jean-Louis *1836.
