Mrs. Beard
I’ve “rescued” an old photograph identified only as “Mrs. BEARD” which was taken at the Lang Studio in Tower, MN. The photograph includes both Mrs. BEARD and an infant who is less than 1 year old at the time. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890’s. I’m hoping to find someone that can identify this as their own Mrs. BEARD so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are from this BEARD Family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.

Adele Fournier "Dita" Davis was born to Robert Davis (1881 - 1949) and Edwina Bailey McCarty (1888 - 1951). Her father was born in Maine and her mother was born in Alabama. She had three sisters: Edwina, Elizabeth, and Barbara.
"Dita" Davis married twice. First to Cameron Randolph Beard Sr. (1905 - 1973) on February 13, 1953. They had a son, Cameron Beard, and a daughter and they divorced in December of 1966. She then married Benjamin Atwood and they had a daughter and two sons.
Dita Beard, the ITT (International Telephone and Telegraph) lobbyist who wrote the memo, was quite a character. Read about her memo at "She Played the Game".
She was this hard-drinking, foul-mouthed, chain-smoking dealmaker in Washington at a time when very few women had any power. She did not dress or act the ladylike part. She would walk around disheveled and drink like a fish and curse like a sailor.
And she was pretty frank, and that’s what got her in trouble by writing the memo in the first place and admitting it to Hume in the second place. And then refusing to recant until it was too late in the game when it was obvious that she was being cornered, which she was.
If Hollywood ever makes a movie, whoever gets to play Dita will have a great role.

BEARD. - After a month's illness the death has occurred
at Nhill of Mrs. Beard, wife of Mr. W. Beard, who is a son
of the late Mr. A. Beard, well known as the senior partner
of Messrs. Beard & Sisson, of the now defunct foundry at
Natimuk. Born at East Natimuk 50 years ago, deceased was
the second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Larrad,
the former managing the carrying business at Natimuk of
Messrs. Broadbent Bros.
In 1911, the deceased ( nee Janet Gilmour Blackwood Larrad )
was married at Natimuk. There were two sons and a daughter,
the last named (Jean) surviving.
Since her arrival in Nhill 27 years ago, Mrs. Beard had been an
untiring worker for the Church of England, particularly the
Ladies Guild. The funeral took place to the Nhill Cemetery.

. I am writing this for my husband, Michael A. RussoI was born Walter Bernard Beard, and was given up for adoption at birth by Gladys Beard. My birthdate is 5/6/59. I was born at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn NY. My guardian was Jack Beard. I was adopted at the age of 3 by Alfred and Helen Russo. According to my info from NYS i have two other siblings. Just want to know where I came from, family or medical history. Thank you. Of note I did not find out I was adopted until I was 26 years old, and then my parents would not give me any info. I obtained this info when my adoptive father passed away. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. Michael and Arlene Russo
