Cossaboom History

In approximately 1615, the Cossaboom's immigrated to Bergen Point on the Island of Jersey, which is now known as New Jersey, USA.

In 1626, some of the Cossaboom ancestors moved to New Amsterdam with Peter Minuit who is the founder of what is now, New York City.

During the American Revolution in the 1700s, the Cossaboom ancestors that chose to remain loyal to the King of England, moved to New Scotland, which is now known as Nova Scotia, Canada.

Earliest found history of the family name Cossaboom derives from the North Holland Island of Texel (pronounced 'Tessel') of the Netherlands in the late 1500s. It is the largest and most populated of the Frisian Islands, measuring at about 70 square miles. It is located at the northwest entrance of the 'Zider Zee' also known as the Wadden Sea.

The island includes 7 villages and 18 small townships. It also includes an uninhabited sand bar called Noorderhaaks (also called Razende Bol *Raging Ball*).

The Island of Texel received city rights in 1415 and was originally made up of two islands, the other island now being called, Eierland.
