George W. Yeager (b 1808 in Chester Co. PA) moved to Jeffersontown KY in the mid 1830s where he was Pastor of Christ Evan. Lutheran Church and started the Jeffersontown Academy. George had strict rules for church members as evidenced in transcribed records at the Jeffersontown Museum. He married Mary Malvina Hoke. Their daughter, Julia Catherine, married William Henderson Hughes from Warren Co. Tenn (my g grandparents). George and Mary are buried in the old German Lutheran Cemetery on Watterson Tr. in Jeffersontown (Louisville) KY.

George had a sister, Elizabeth Chrisman (Mrs. Henry), who was referred to in his recorded will in Jefferson Co. KY. She was living in Phenixville PA. I'm trying to determine their parents.

Surnames-Names (Wilfong, Wiltfong, Wildfong) Discussion
Assumption presented by the author, Meredith J. Wiltfong:
Some of the descendants of the emigrant George Woolfgang wanted to separate their families from George’s brother Johannes’ families. Many in the families had become ardent Revolutionary soldiers. "Killings" apparently became no big issue for these members of the family. Initially the southern plantation owners supported the English and slavery. As the war terminated the slavery question was left unsettled. Anyone supporting the Revolution might be considered a supporter of slavery. Slavery and “killings” would not fit with the strong “Morvarian believes” of the initial family. The Virginia families (of the immigrant George Michael Woolfang) also took Wilfong as a surname. Johannes descendants (perhaps others) that had moved to the Carolinas and were called Wilfong. Mel Gibson (Col. Martin) in the movie “Patriot” is a fictional character built around the Major George Wilfong that lived in Catawaba County. The real Major George Wilfong is described in the “History of Catawaba County”. Both the fictional plot and the historical account acknowledges George Wilfong’s oldest son named John. These two individuals with a brother-in-law named Weitener were the people that had killed the Col. Ferguson of the British Army. The next two paragraphs are conjecture on my part. A son of the immigrant, George Micheal Woolfang, George Wilfong, moved to Canada. It is documented a certain George Wiltfong (Indiana History) moved to Canada because of his strong opposition to slavery. Probably he had also not supported the American Revolution. It is thought that George took the name "Jacob" Wildfong when he came to Canada. The "Biblical Jacob" was sold into slavery. Perhaps George felt slavery had separated him from his family so he assumed the name "Jacob".
The surname Wildfong would have separated him from the US Revolution supporters. Legal documents of the time (found in Canada) lists only a George Wildfong. The Canadian historian Ezra Eby only refers to Jacob Wildfong. Ezra Eby states that this Jacob Wildfong's father was an immigrant named George. The George (Jr.) Wilfong from North Carolina is thought to have used the name of Jacob Wildfong when he came to Canada. The change of first name and surname can only be postulated. The changing the surname to Wildfong could have been used to separate his family from the Wilfongs in Virginia and Carolina. The Wilfong relatives in the U.S.would be considered to have supported both the Revolution and Slavery.
An emigrant George Michael Wilfong (Indiana History) was the father of Michael Wiltfong found in Indiana Census. The Jacob Wildfong of Canada had his oldest son, Michael return or remained in the Ohio Territory. Indiana was carved out of the Ohio Territory. In the early Indiana historical book it has this native Michael Wiltfong's father moving on into Canada. I am postulating again. Michael wanted to live in the States and not be associated with his father, a British supporter. He adopted the Wiltfong spelling. This separated him from the Wilfongs who fought to keep slavery while fighting in the American Revolution. It also separated him from the Wildfongs that had supported the English in the Revolution. The family totally ignored the British sympathizer when giving their family genealogy to the historian writing about earlier Indiana. This might have been a family embarrassment at that time.
It has come down through the Wiltfong' clan (Delmar Colby) that our George "may have fought in the Revolution but his sympathies were with the English". Content Outlines: Contents of the listed FTW files

I'm an Abbott by my great grandfather, T.J. Abbott. A new book, The Cameo Brooch is available at AuthorHouse.com, telling in narrative form, some of the stories of the Moulton, Aboot, Hungerford, Nye family, from colonial days into the early 20th century. It includes photos of Thom Jefferson (T.J.) Abbott, Civil War chaplain in the Union Army, and his wife Lizzie Moulton, a letter by him written to Lizzie during a railroad stopover in Kentucky, which tells of his pain at seeing slave children sold, plus an early geneology taken from a 19th century Abbott Family Bible.
