Summary

According to one branch of the family, the Kerek family originated in Russia and were conscripted into a war against Europe by a Mongolian leader (Batu Khan). Most of the family ended up in Hungary and Poland and stayed there.  Only a few women and children were left in the family birthplace.  Those who were left in Russia are few and this is what is said of them: The Kereks have been assimilated into the nearest tribe called Chukchi. Only 5 people currently speak the Kerek language.The tribe is near extinction. No written information about the language as these people had been forced to speak Russian. They've been converted into Russian people.

History

According to one branch of the Kerek family, the Kereks were dragged into the battle against Europe by the Mongolian leader Batu Khan. Many Kereks escaped from the army when they were in Hungary and Poland. They helped to repopulate the countries that had been destroyed by the Mongolians. Later on in history, they emmigrated from Hungary to other parts of the world (mostly the USA and Canada). Name Origin

Kerek means "King's rule" or "favored by God". In the Kerek Language it had a meaning of "rock" and "solid beliefs"
