Carlos Marker WHO WOULD EVER THOUGHT THAT A FULL BLOODED GERMAN WOULD TRAVEL ACROSS THE OCEAN AND SETTLE HIS LIFE HERE IN COLIMA MEXICO AS AN ENGINEER BUILDING BRIDGES FOR RAILROAD COMPANIES IN THE EARLY 1900S, AND MARRY A FULL BLOODED YAKI NATIVE NAMED MARIA TO ONLY GENERATE GENERATIONS OF WHAT WE CALL NUESTRA FAMILIA.MY GREAT GRANDFATHER GEORGE MARKER NOT ABLE TO SPEAK A SINGLE SPANISH WORD EXCEPT FOR THE NAME MARIA WITH A GERMAN ACCENT MANAGED TO LIVE THE REST OF HIS LIFE IN THIS COUNTRY OF MEXICO. HE WAS NOT ALONE ON THIS LONG JOURNEY HE HAD A COUPLE OF BUDDIES THAT HAD CAME WITH HIM FROM GERMANY, WELL THOSE BUDDIES ALSO STARTED THERE FAMILIES HERE AS WELL,THAT HAPPEN TO BE GREAT FRIENDS OF OURS TILL THIS VERY DAY AND WE ARE PROUD TO MENTION THAT OUR LAST NAME IS GERMEN WHEN WE ARE ASKED OF OUR UNIQUE NAME WE ALSO HAVE FAMILY IN THE FRESNO COUNTY AREA OF CALIFORNIA WHO SETTLED THERE IN THE LATE 60S.MY GREAT GRANDFATHER REST IN PEACE HERE IN COLIMA,A PLACK WITH HIS NAME STILL MARKS A LOCAL BRIDGE IN APPRICIATION OF THOSE WHO BUILT IT, IT IS ALSO A HISTORIC SITE FOR MY FAMILY MEMBERS TODAY.MY NAME IS CARLOS MARKER AND IM PROUD TO BE A MARKER.GOD BLESS ALL MARKER FAMILIES OUT THERE.
