It was sent from my uncle, John Lynn Mort, to my father, Norman Allen Mort, in Fannettsburg, PA in 1915, The writing on the back says: Sending you a picture of my hotel in K.C.Received your letter ok. I willl write you a letter later as news from this end is scarce. The jury on the Hyde trial disagreed. Guess you've been reading about it. Are you teaching Venus to read? Lynn. Norman Mort
This is a picture of my father, Norman Allen Mort, when he was a mail carrier in Franklin County, PA.. Note the pistol stuck in his belt. At that time, rural mail carriers were allowed to carry a firearm because of holdups, as back in 1921 many people sent cash through the mail--no debit cards or ATM's then.

I don't remember many of them, but Lucille Carberry of Baltimore, MD is the person in the front bending over the person in the chair and I am standing directly behind Lucille in the blue and white top.

William (Grand-Dad Mort) was out with some friend smoking. It was the early 1900's and they were leaning against, I'm not sure what, but they kind of looked like a couple of gangsters in their attire and the way they were holding themselves.

This was taken during WWI. He is the one in the Middle. On the back of the photo, He states that the one on the left got shot in the leg and the one on the right was missing in battle and the one in the middle (Him) lost some blood, and it wasn't funny.

This is a postcard showing Mills Street fronting the San Jacinto Plaza, El Paso, TX. The postmark is unreadable but I think it was probably after WW1. The stamp is a 1-center. It was sent to my father, Norman Mort, in Fannettsburg, PA from his friend, Frank McCormick, who served in the War. Text reads: Dear Friend Norman: Just a few lines saying I received your letter a few days ago and telling you that our orders are cancelled and I don't know just how long it will be before we start home again. Am well and hope that this finds you the same. Frank

This is a postcard sent to my gr-grandfather, Allen Mort, in Fannettsburg, Pa. Postmark is Feb. 24, 1918 and was from a Sgt. Halston or Haiston. Text reads: Mr, Allen Mort, Dear Sir: I have had no word from Mother for some time, the last time she wrote she said you were not well. I hope you are feeling much better by this time. I have visited Dunkerque many times and have seen much of France and quite a bit of Belgium. Will tell you all about it when I get home. Respectfully, Sgt. Halston or Haiston.

This is a postcard of the Rockville Bridge, longest stone arch bridge in the world, Harrisburg, PA. My brother, Fred Mort, sent this to my parents on August 19, 1948 to tell them that he passed all tests for the Air Force, got delayed in Harrisburg, but was leaving for San Antonio, TX, at 12:20. This card is for all the family.
