He had two sisters, Margaret Kay Reaves and Linda Carol Reaves (1950-1950). He also had a half sister, Joyce Marie Mardis.
Reaves graduated from the Male High School and went on to graduate from the University of Louisville Kent School in 1999 with a degree in social work.
He served in the military from 1965-1986 in the US Air Force. During his time in service, he married Maria N. Benitez (1948-2018) in the Philippines. They had children together, including a daughter named Patricia J, Reaves, and later divorced in 1995. After that, Donald re married to Tresita C. Vito Cruz on June 6, 1995 in Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky, United States.
Reaves was a member of St. Polycarp Catholic Church and the Masonic Sunset Lodge. He was a social worker for the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric center. On March 20, 2003 Donald Edward Reaves passed away in Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky, United States.
