Arles was a wonderful father and faithful husband. He dearly loved my mother, my brother and me and all of our children! He had a tender and kind heart and was a very generous man! He was a man of many talents and could repair anything around the home from the roof to the basement and everything outside. He built the cabinets for my maternal grandparents kitchen and laid the big slate stones, cementing them in place for the long sidewalk he built to connect the front porch to the cement steps that he also built down the hill to their driveway. He could repair any car and often repaired friends cars, free of charge, sometimes working all night on the weekends. He served in the Navy on The Battleship Texas during WWII and was in the Invasion of Normandy. When the ship took a direct hit, he was in the ‘crow’s nest’ and was unable to get down for 3 days. He spotted an enemy plane that the radar missed, perhaps saving many lives. He loved the USA! He was very particular, a place for everything and everything in its place! He was one of the greatest dads and was a true honorable man. He was very generous in all respects and had a great sense of humor. I loved him dearly and miss him so much! As his daughter, I thank the LORD I can rest assured that someday I will be with him again in HEAVEN for he believed in our LORD and SAVIOR, CHRIST JESUS!
